CLARAVILLE—Several Northumberland teachers on Monday, October 12, shared concerns regarding the school board’s decision to re-open all county schools for in-person learning on Thursday, October 22.
“Put yourself in my place, wondering if you will bring this virus home to your family. Having to request permission to go to the grocery store because I didn’t expect this would happen. Not being able to have your water heater fixed because no one is allowed in your home. Wondering if I could be sick and give this to my elderly mother,” said high school teacher Karen Baker.
She was among some 20 teachers who were sent home last month due to a possible COVID-19 exposure.
