Carol Ann Towne

REEDVILLE—Carol Ann Towne of Reedville, died on November 16, 2020, after a long illness. She passed peacefully at home with all her children at her side.

Carol is survived by her husband of 40 years, Harry B. Towne. She is also survived by siblings Margaret McGill (Don), Ann Hagedorn (Mark), Jay Toomey (Sandi); children Scott Taylor (Cheryl), Don Taylor (Julie), Lynn VanNess (Clovis), Richard Towne (Alecia) and eight grandchildren.

Carol graduated from the school of nursing at Hartford Hospital in 1968 and began a long career in nursing with positions in New York City, Oklahoma City, Ypsilanti, Michigan and Woodbridge. She was the department director of the Maternal/Child Health units at Potomac Hospital for 11 years before moving on to the Emergency Department for six years.

After moving to the Northern Neck, she worked in the Emergency Department at Rappahannock General Hospital until she retired in 2012. Along the way, she was certified in emergency nursing and inpatient obstetrical care.

She volunteered at the Northern Neck-Middlesex Free Health Clinic and at Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, including a term as president of the board of directors at RFM.

No flowers please; donations may be made to the Northern Neck Free Health Clinic.

Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
