A simple greeting card can send happiness and a little holiday cheer this Christmas to those who are missing connections with family and friends because of COVID-19.
“Some of these people haven’t had contact with anyone for months,” said Mary Ketner Lorenzino of Kilmarnock, who has organized Christmas Cards for Seniors by Kids.
Lorenzino and her two children, Audrey, 6, and Elliott, 3, have been busy addressing Christmas cards and stuffing envelopes over the last few weeks and are encouraging other families to join the campaign to spread the joy of the season.
“My intentions are to spread some Christmas cheer to seniors living in senior living facilities,” she said. “They’ve been in quarantine basically since March and most of them haven’t been able to see their loved ones. And getting kids involved just seemed like the thing to do.”
