HEATHSVILLE—Lenora Lewis Welch, 101, affectionately known as “Nonie,” died peacefully at home with her son, Benjamin, and daughter-in-law, Sandra, at her bedside on December 27, 2016. Last Rights were given by Father Mike Moffet, rector of Light of Christ Anglican Church, the day before.

 She was born in Norfolk on January 9, 1915. She was a member of Bayside Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach and sang in the choir. She was also a member of Westminster Chapter No. 99, Order of the Eastern Star, Ocean Park Women’s Club and the Thoroughgood Music Club.

She retired from her job at the Fifth Naval District Communications Headquarters in 1971. In 1999, she moved to Northumberland House and Farm.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Benjamin Wyatt Ward Sr.; second husband, William Homer Welch; and a son, Donald Ward.

She is survived by one son and his wife; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 21, at Light of Christ Anglican Church, Heathsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Riverside Hospice (Tappahannock) or Light of Christ Anglican Church music ministry.
