Local Community Foundation celebrates 25 years helping nonprofits in 3 counties

WHITE STONE—River Counties Community Foundation (RCCF) is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Over the years, much has changed, reported regional affiliates officer Lincoln Boykin.

When RCCF was founded a quarter century ago, it was able to provide grants to repair wells and buy books for libraries. Today, it is helping to fund a new water system in Middlesex County, said Boykin. RCCF also funded a childcare and reading program for children in Lancaster and Northumberland counties when schools were closed due to the pandemic.

RCCF started with a $25,000 gift from Roger and Jeanette Williams. Today, its assets total more than $28 million, he said.

A year after it was formed, in 1996, the foundation gave its first grants of $500 each to Northern Neck-Middlesex Free Health Clinic, Hands Across Middlesex and Habitat for Humanity, continued Boykin.
