Guest speakers for the Cobbs Hall Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), at the December Christmas luncheon at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club were Lois Williams and Ammon Dunton, co -authors of the 2019 book, Tobacco Order on the Corrotoman, about Colonel James Gordon of Verville. Both serve on the Lancaster Virginia Historical Society board of directors.
Williams has a lifelong interest in her family history and the stories of places she has lived which led her to contribute research materials and to publish articles for historical organizations in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and Virginia since moving to Irvington, reported Rebecca Nunn.
She secured the approval of a new state historic marker “69 Slaves Escape to Freedom” has written and co-written books on….There's more to this story...
