LANCASTER—The Lancaster board of supervisors on January 27 unanimously adopted a resolution recognizing some of the men and women of local law enforcement.
Deputy Eddie Daw and Communications Officer Julie Campbell, both of the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), and Officer Richard Thomas and Officer Chelsi Blake, both of the Kilmarnock Police Department (KPD), were all commended for their “quick and courageous actions in a time of great need” during a December 24 prisoner attack at the Lancaster jail.
According to the resolution, despite being strangled with a chord by a prisoner, Deputy Daw triggered an alarm, letting the dispatchers know he needed help. Campbell was on duty and as luck would have it, she was able to enlist the help of officers Thomas and Blake, who were at the jail speaking to a magistrate.
