Without volunteers Little League programs would not exist. There are volunteer coaches, assistant coaches, scorekeepers, grounds crew and concession workers.
But sometimes parents and fans forget the umpires also are volunteers. And umpires require training.
On January 28 and 29, eight volunteer umpires with the Lancaster County Little League (LCLL) attended an 11-hour training seminar in Hampton presented by Little League International, Williamsport, Pa. and Little League Southern Region.
