Iris M. Chambers

WOODBRIDGE—Iris Virginia M. Chambers passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 4, 2021, at the age of 97 in Woodbridge.   

Iris attended McKinley Technical High school in Washington, D.C., subsequently working for the FBI, and later as a guidance secretary at Mt. Vernon High School. 

She was predeceased by her parents, Mary Douglas Muir and Archie Tyler Muir; husband, Albert Tyler Chambers; brother, Douglas Muir; and sister, Mae Muir Taylor.

She was survived by sister, Rita Muir Buell; children, Albert Tyler Chambers and Mary Boone Chambers Wellington; and grandchildren, Amanda Chambers Harder, Vajra Wellington, Lily Wellington and Rebecca Wellington.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. April 30 at Melrose United Methodist Church, 1317 Lewisetta Road, Lottsburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send a donation to Melrose United Methodist Church or coastalsheltierescue.org/donate.
