Bay Bash Fishing Tournament lands a variety of fish and prizes

The fifth Bay Bash Fishing Tournament was held August 12-13 at Ingram Bay Marina in Remo.

The tournament was a great success with 53 teams fielding 148 anglers, according to organizers. Over 118 catches were recorded and posted live throughout the day on the Fish Dispatch Live Leaderboard.

In the $500 grand prize division based on the aggregate length of 10 possible species, John Verne of Heathsville, aboard B Reel, placed first.

Tommy Watson and his wife, Maggie, on board the Paper Doll of Wicomico Church jumped to an early lead, putting themselves on the leaderboard by noon. M. Watson accumulated 57.75” using five species while T. Watson posted 53.25”.

Verne weighed in with a croaker, sea mullet, bluefish, Spanish mackerel and a perch. His score, 58″, clipped M. Watson’s by a quarter of an inch….
