HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland County Circuit Court convened Tuesday, October 11, with the Hon. R. Michael McKenney presiding.
In the case of Davon W. Gaines of Merry Point, charges of use of a firearm in a felony, three counts of malicious shooting, destruction of property, malicious shooting/throwing at a car, and malicious shooting/throwing at an occupied building all concluded with dispositions of nolle prosequi.
In the case of Glenn M. Hogan of Lottsburg, charged with strangulation resulting in wound or injury, a trial remains under advisement.
In the case of Michael S. Kappel of Heathsville, charged with two counts of obtaining money under false pretenses, grand larceny of over $1000 not personal property, and failure to perform promise for construction in return for advances of over $1000, a pre-trial motion was denied and a trial will be set October 25.
Clifton Tomlin of Burgess pleaded nolo contendere to a probation violation on a felony charge. His probation was revoked and he was sentenced to three years with three years suspended.
