VIA, technical center team up for tables

Students of the Northern Neck Technical Center recently had the opportunity to apply and showcase their carpentry skills by providing new picnic tables for the Town Commons in Irvington.

Sponsored by the Village Improvement Association (VIA), a class of first-year carpentry students spent several sessions constructing three new picnic tables to be enjoyed for years to come.

Carpentry instructor Michael Sisson said the whole process took a couple of weeks considering other projects the students were working on simultaneously.

The first year class, comprised of mostly 11th graders, complete projects like this regularly to learn, improve and utilize their skills, he said.
