KILMARNOCK—James Glen Evans, Sr. died February 25, 2023.
James was the son of the late Allen D. Evans and Mary L. Evans. He was born February 21, 1963, in Newport News.
After attending Hampton City Public Schools, he moved to Lancaster County. There he began a career in landscaping with Raymond Booth. Evans later took a job aboard a fishing boat with Omega Protein.
James was a trustee and member of the New St. John Mens Choir.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Minnie Evans; son, James G. Evans, Jr.; daughters, Shameka Coleman and Kadesha Lee; grandsons, Dere’Onta Redman, Justin Mitchell, Jr., Te’Vaughn Coleman, Trevin Anderson, Kevin Hall, Jr., Kingston Hall and Adrian Evans; granddaughter, Kirahya Hall; brother, George A. Evans; sisters, Cynthia D. Evans and Lisa I. Evans; and three great-grandchildren.
A service was held Saturday, March 4, at New St. John Baptist Church, Kilmarnock.
