Northumberland Elementary School principal reports performance scores

CLARAVILLE—Northumberland Elementary School students are steadily improving their performance in reading and math, according to a report Monday to the school board.

Principal Theresa Larsen gave an “…update from the latest testing for academic progress in reading and math.”

Some 75% of kindergarteners math scores were in the 31-99 percentile for achievement, with 89% meeting or exceeding growth goals. Reading scores showed 81% achievement in the 31-99 percentile, with 89% meeting or exceeding growth goals.

Some 70% of first graders math scores fell between 31-99 percentile in achievement, with 91% meeting or achieving growth goals. Reading scores were 76% in achievement and 79% in growth.

Second grade math scores showed 72% of students scoring in the 31-99 percentile, with 88% meeting and exceeding goals. Reading achievement was at 72% with 90% in growth.

Third grade math scores were 80% scoring in the 31-99 percentile, with 92% in growth. Reading scores were 75%, with 84% in growth.

Fourth grade math scores were 83% in the 31-99 percentile with 73% in growth. Their reading achievement was 72%, with 77% meeting growth.

Fifth grade math scores were 75% in the 31-99 percentile with 83% in growth. Reading achievement was 71%, while growth was at 80%.
