Carnival wraps up

The carnival grounds on Waverly Avenue in Kilmarnock were busy Saturday, August 5, as folks crammed in one more night of fun, food and rides on the final evening of the 88th Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department Firemen’s Festival. Steve Byram of Irvington won the grand prize—a 2023 Chevy Silverado. “The first three days, with the heat, were a little slower than we wanted,” said festival president Cody Smith. “But when the weather broke and Monday rolled around, we had a great turnout the rest of the week.” Photo by Lisa Hinton-Valdrighi
