HEATHSVILLE—After “three-and-a-half years of aggravation and bureaucracy, Northumberland County now has a canoe/kayak launch,” Northumberland planning commission chairman Alfred Fisher Jr. announced on Thursday, September 21.
Fisher commended staff and the commission for clearing “hurdle after hurdle” to make the launch, next to the public fishing pier on the Great Wicomico River at Tipers, a reality. He also noted the advantage of the launch’s central location. “You can put oar and go east or west, take your choice, upriver or downriver.”
A ribbon cutting will be held at a later date with details to follow.
