Barracks follow Secretariat’s trail from Doswell to Paris, Kentucky

Saturday, November 11, 2023, marked the 50th anniversary of Secretariat’s arrival “to the day” in Paris, Kentucky, to reside at Claiborne Farm as a stallion.

The Town of Paris dedicated a new park in Secretariat’s honor adjacent to a bronze statue by Jocelyn Russell and mural by artist Jamie Corum.

During a related dedication ceremony, memories of Secretariat’s arrival and Triple Crown accomplishments were shared by Seth Hancock, owner and manager of Claiborne Farm, and Sarah Tweedy, daughter of Penny Chenery, then owner of The Meadows.

Jamie and Billy Barrack of Alfonso attended the dedication of the park and toured Claiborne Farm where Secretariat is buried.
