The Northern Neck District standouts Tyreek Lundy of Northumberland High School and Bryan Roane of Essex High School added some regional hardware last week as the Region 1A’s offensive and defensive players of the year, respectively.
The all-region teams were announced November 28.
Lundy, a sophomore and also Northern Neck District offensive player of the year, led the Indians to the regional championship game. He filled a spot on the all-region’s first team as quarterback. Roane was the district’s defensive player of the year and the senior linebacker was also a first-team all-region selection.
Todd Jones, who led Essex to the regional championship and a home berth in the Class 1 state playoffs, was chosen coach of the year.
