Teams competing in Predator Plow Down claim 170 animals

Over 170 predators were ‘plowed down’ last weekend as the Northern Neck Farm Museum (NNFM) in Horsehead hosted its first Predator Plow Down. 

Seventeen teams, including 56 hunters, combined to kill 136 red foxes, 33 coyotes and three bobcats, according to organizer Kate Jones. 

The tournament was held to benefit the farm museum’s education projects and as means of helping rid local farms of predators, known to kill small animals, chickens, ducks and other wildlife. 

The first-place team, Only Reds, of Hunter Houff, Rand Gibson, Jeff Williams and Nathan Houff, killed six coyotes and 44 foxes. Two team members were from Port Republic, one from Forest and one from Dry Fork. 

The second-place team included two Northern Neck hunters, Mark Downing and Jordan Brown….
