St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 6807 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville, will offer Jazz Compline, a contemplative musical experience, at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21. Jazz standards will be played by At Water’s Edge. The theme will be “All About Love.”
The ancient service of compline, or night prayer, combines music with prayers and readings.
When combined with jazz, it provides a perfect meditative experience. Jazz has been called America’s original art form because it captures the essence of improvisation and creativity, and has become part of our mainstream music tradition.
