Kane breaks LHS record in 3200 meter run

Matthew Kane continues to run through the Lancaster High School record books, shattering another long-standing record during a six-school track and field meet at Charles City Invitational on Thursday, April 18.

Kane won the 3200 meter run in 9:59.29 to pre-qualify for the Virginia High School League Class 1 meet and in the process broke a school record in the race that was set in 1984.

Finishing as the runner-up behind Middlesex, the Red Devils had five meet state qualifying marks in seven events in the boys meet. In the girls meet, Lancaster had two individuals and a relay team state qualify.

Boys meet

Middlesex scored 199.5 team points to place first; Lancaster scored 128 points to finish second; Hampton Roads Academy, 85, for third; Rappahannock, 78.5, for fourth; Richmond Christian, 14, for fifth; and Banner Christian School, 3, for sixth.
