The annual Blessing of the Fleet will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at the old Morris-Fisher Factory Tall Stack on the Omega Protein Property, 610 Menhaden Road, Reedville. Boats that wish to participate in the boat parade will meet at the mouth of Cockrell Creek and the Great Wicomico River at 3 p.m.
The keynote speaker will be James C. Hudgins, president of the Virginia Waterman’s Association. Local clergy will include Priest Joie Pierce, Kaki Swan of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Rev. Linwood T. Blizzard II of Macedonia Baptist Church and Rev. Pilar Parnell of St. Stevens Church. A local choir will participate.
Bring chairs. All are welcome, rain or shine.
