
IRVINGTON—William James “Bill” Glover, cherished resident of Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury in Irvington, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024, at the age of 85 years.
Bill was born to Raymond and Leola Grace Glover on June 8, 1939, in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Bill’s journey through life was marked by dedication, passion and love. A proud alumnus of Springfield High School, he furthered his education at Drexel University, Pennsylvania, and attended evening classes at Lafayette College. At Drexel, he began his professional journey with Dupont in Delaware, Pa.
After marrying his beloved wife, Janice, the couple moved to Allentown, Pa. Bill’s career flourished as he dedicated 32 years to Air Products and Chemicals Inc., culminating as vice president of American Refuel, a joint venture between Air Products and Browing-Ferris Industries.
Beyond his professional achievements, Bill was a man of faith and community. He actively participated in Grace Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock. He was a member of the River Plantation Country Club in Conroe, Texas, and the Christian Service Brigade in the Bible Fellowship Church in Allentown. His contributions as the secretary of the board of the Green in Weems and his membership in the American Chemical Society were a testament to his dedication to service and scientific inquiry.
Bill’s passion extended to the arts, tennis, fishing, traveling, golfing and boating, which brought him great joy and peace. His kindness and love as a husband and father were the cornerstones of our family. Though we mourn his loss, we find solace in knowing he rests with our Heavenly Father.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jan; and by his loving family, sons, Darren (and wife Pam) and Brian (and wife Catherine); daughters, Kristen and Dana (and wife Jeanne); cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Montana, Sierra, Brian, Josh, Corey and Mathew; and great-grandchildren. Rayne, Rebecca, Stephen and Dwight.
A memorial service to honor Bill’s remarkable life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, in the Auditorium at RWC, 132 Lancaster Drive, Irvington, followed by a reception. Donations in Bill’s memory can be made in lieu of flowers to RWC Healthcare Education Endowed Scholarship c/o Development Office, 132 Lancaster Drive, Irvington, VA 22480.
