Mike Rancourt wins RPRC Tyro pistol match

The Rappahannock Pistol & Rifle Club (RPRC) conducted a center-fire pistol match July 17 at the club range in White Stone. The Tyro is a challenging pistol match shooting multiple targets under time pressure.

The match was a Center-fire Match following NRA guidelines and consisted of rapid-fire shooting using center-fire (high-power) pistols at a distance of 30 feet, reported competition director Creed Fallon. There are three NRA-AP-1 targets which are placed 11 feet apart when measured between the centers of each target. The center of the target consists of a 2-inch radius “X” ring inside the 4-inch radius “10” ring. The next scoring ring has a 6-inch radius “8” ring with a “5” scoring area on the rest of the target.

There are five stages of fire, said Fallon. The first three stages consist of two shots at a single target in 5 seconds starting from the low ready position. First two shots in 5 seconds at the center target, next left two shots 5 seconds, and finally a right-side target two shots in 5 seconds all 30 feet from the shooter (beginner level).
