NCSO using citizen feedback to build trust, improve safety

HEATHSVILLE—Folks have become used to providing reviews about product purchases, restaurants or Uber drivers. For some who encounter Northumberland County deputies, they will be able to provide feedback on that interaction as well.

The service is called Guardian Score and it is the latest move in an ongoing partnership among the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO), the Northumberland NAACP, and Interracial Conversations of Lancaster and Northumberland Counties, who all formed the Community Liaison and Advisory Council to strengthen ties between the community and law enforcement.

“The value of (the Guardian Score) is that it’s a mechanism that develops a level of trust,” Rev. Tyron Williams said. Williams serves on the council along with Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp.

According to Sheriff Beauchamp, when deputies pass out these particular business cards, it will include their name along with a QR code that will take them to the anonymous survey that can be completed in less than a minute…
