Northumberland wins the Region 1A Golf Championship tournament

Tre Booth of Northumberland shot a 3-over par 75 at the Golden Eagle Golf Course last Thursday to win the Region 1A individual medal. Booth led the Indians to the regional team championship with a low score of 338.

Northumberland won the Region 1A golf championship and Tre Booth, as the individual medalist, was region golfer of the year. Tre Booth won the Region 1A golf tournament. As the individual medalist, he also was the region golfer of the year.

Tyler Brent of Lancaster was 6 over par with a 78 as the runner-up. He and teammate Isaac Hernandez, who shot an 89, will represent the Red Devils at the Class 1 state tournament on October 15 at Great Oaks Country Club in Floyd County.

Northumberland, as the regional champion, and Middlesex, as the runner-up, will both play in the state tournament. The top three regional golfers not on those teams also advance, including Brent, Hernandez and Hunter Byrd of Essex, who shot an 87.

Middlesex, led by Kai Evans with an 84, scored 357 as the runner-up. Lancaster was third with 374, Rappahannock fourth, also with 374, and Essex fifth with 439. Mathews, West Point and Chincoteague did not score….
