Bradford to discuss orchids with the Native Plant Society

The Northern Neck Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society will meet from noon-2 p.m. Thursday, October 17, at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Center Drive, Kilmarnock. Botanist Zach Bradford will present a program on the native orchids of the Northern Neck.

“We have over 65 different species of orchids in Virginia, making the Commonwealth a biological hotspot for orchids,” said vice president Kevin Howe. “I am sure that is a surprise to most people and, in fact, Virginia ranks in the top three states with the most orchid species.
