Parish seeks help regarding history of Grace Chapel

Grace Chapel

Grace Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock began in 1852 in a small, white frame chapel building that still stands on the property, 172 years later.

“Grace Chapel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places,” said Martha Gilbert. “As it remains a meeting place for worship and celebration at Grace Church, we would like to know more about the events that have taken place in the Chapel over these 172 years!”

Those who have any old photos of Grace Chapel, are urged to share them. Perhaps family or friends were married in the chapel, or a memorial service occurred in the chapel. “Or, perhaps you have saved a program from a service at Grace Chapel,” said Gilbert. Contact parish administrator Bett Harrison, 435-1285, to share any mementos. “We promise to take very good care of your object and to return it to you promptly and safely,” said Gilbert.

“Thank you for helping Grace Church learn more about the history of Grace Chapel.”
