Lancaster forces Rappahannock to work extra hard in semifinals

The Lancaster High School postseason run ended in the Region 1A volleyball tournament semifinals last week, closing out a 13-10 overall and 6-4 Northern Neck District campaign for the Lady Devils.

Rappahannock defeated Lancaster, 3-0, to move on to the regional championship against Middlesex. The Lady Chargers defeated Westmoreland, 3-0, in the other semifinal.

The Raiders took the Region 1A trophy on Tuesday, November 12, with a 3-2 win over the Chargers. Both teams advanced to the Class 1 state tournament.

Despite the semifinal loss, the Devils left it all on the court November 6, playing the Raiders tougher than they had in either of the first two regular season matches. Lancaster played the Raiders within two points in the first set and five in the second, losing the match by scores of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-17.
