LANCASTER—George Whiting Thomas, 83, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Callao Grader Service.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Donna Thomas; parents, Ernest Clinton Thomas Jr. and Linda Thomas; brother, Sonny Thomas; and sisters, Genevieve Jett and Betty Lou Packett.
George is survived by daughters, Shelley Lackert and Stacey Smith (Shane); granddaughters, Heather Lackert and Melinda Lackert (Ben); grandson, Evan Smith; great-grandsons, Nicholas Low and Matthew Cockrell; brother, Harry Thomas; and sister, Peggy Allen; along with many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11 am on Monday, November 25, at Corrotoman Baptist Church with interment following at Corrotoman Cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall at the church.
The family would like to say a special thank you to all of his caregivers at home, along with the staff at Dockside Health Center.
