The Steamboat Era Museum (SEM), 156 King Carter Drive, Irvington, as part of the 2025 annual Second Saturday Speaker Series, will welcome Greg Kirkbride for his presentation, “America’s Tall Ship – the Coast Guard Barque EAGLE” at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 11.
Commander Kirkbride’s presentation will delve into the history, characteristics and on-board operations, with a focus on the Operation Sail 1972 tall ships race in Europe, of the Coast Guard’s 88-year-old sail training vessel, the EAGLE, reported museum manager Candee Pevahouse.
Kirkbride is a 1974 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., where he sailed on three cadet training cruises aboard the EAGLE. He served 23 years on active duty…..
