New high school taking shape

WEEMS—The classrooms, gym and auditorium at the new Lancaster High School are starting to take shape despite some slight weather delays, according to operations and project management director Travis Pitttman.

Progress remains apparent on the Lancaster High School project. In addition to the school facility, artificial turf and lighting is being installed on the football field and track.

Reporting to the school board on Monday, January 13, Pittman said, “A lot of steel is in place as well as decking on Level 1, which is the main floor and classrooms in Level 0, which I liken to a huge walk-out basement. Also, the concrete is poured for the auditorium, gym and auxiliary gym.”

He also noted artificial turf and dark sky-compliant lighting were being installed on the football field. He added that the field itself was moved away from the school building to accommodate storm water from….
