WHITE STONE—In a collaborative effort lead by River Counties Community Foundation (RCCF), the Robert B. Lanz Foundation and Serve Virginia, area non-profits should benefit from a developing “help to helper” program designed to increase volunteerism over the next year.
Nearly 40 representatives for non-profit organizations across Lancaster, Middlesex and Northumberland counties gathered Tuesday, January 28, at the RCCF in White Stone to hear presentations from Serve Virginia related to a Volunteer Capacity Project and an online volunteer portal expected to launch in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula by September.
The online portal is designed to offer non-profits a platform to share their organization and its mission, as well as increase awareness of volunteer opportunities within itself.
According to Serve Virginia volunteerism and community services director Kathy Spangler, the portal also serves as a “hub,” or a “one-stop-shop” for those interested in volunteering. The online portal will….
