SENORA—Calvin Thomas Lewis, 97, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at his home in Senora. His unassuming, genuine and grateful manner endeared him to everyone he met, from lifelong friends and family to newcomers.
A dedicated waterman and farmer, Calvin’s work ethic was extraordinary. Driven by his love for his family and guided by strong faith, he rarely paused from his labor except on Sundays. A lifelong member of Corrottoman Baptist Church, he faithfully served in various roles over the years, most notably as a deacon. At the time of his passing, he was the church’s oldest member.
Born on October 28, 1927, Calvin was the fourth of seven children of Josh and Eva Lewis.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lydia Bryant (Calbert); brothers, Randolph, Stanley (Shirley), Raymond, Hampton (Grace) and Gene (Mary Frances); half-sisters Ruth Alford (John) and Catherine Clarke (Romey); and half-brother Dewey (Olive).
Calvin is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Selena; sons, Steve (Karen) and Shannon (Kelli); daughter, Janet Faletto (Dave); grandchildren, Ashleigh Kenner (Jason), Ryan, Ashby (Hannah), Dexter (Cassie) and Nicholas Faletto; great-grandchildren Jimmy, Jacob, Auggie and Collin; Raymond’s wife Carol; and many nieces, nephews and extended family who loved him as “Uncle Calvin.”
The family will accept visitors at noon on Friday, February 14, at Corrottoman Baptist Church in Lancaster. A funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with interment at Corrottoman Cemetery, followed by a fellowship luncheon at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Corrottoman Baptist Church Cemetery Trust Fund in his memory.
Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
