White Stone readies for second phase of sewage system project

WHITE STONE —The White Stone Town Council finally got the go-ahead from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to put the second phase of its public sewage system project out for bids. Town manager Patrick Frere told council the news at its February 6 meeting.

Council submitted plans for approval to the USDA’s office of general council in Atlanta on October 19. The process usually takes 30 days, according to Frere. However, after waiting for over three months, the town finally received a letter of approval last week dated January 24.

“We’ve finally gotten the green light to put this out for bids,” said Frere, who added he would work with the engineer to get advertisements out within….
