Northumberland School Board members at odds over attendance at joint meetings with supervisors

CLARAVILLE—Northumberland school superintendent Holly Wargo is under scrutiny from the public and members of the school board as questions surrounding financial management and the proposed $22,953,751 budget for 2025-26 were at the forefront of a Monday, February 10, school board meeting.

School board member David Curran began the meeting noting his disappointment that there was no representation from the school board during a recent joint finance meeting with the board of supervisors.

Curran moved to send a representative from the school board to participate in a future budget workshop with the supervisors. Cheryl Davis seconded the motion.

However, Dana O’Bier, Denise Mazyck and Betty Christopher voted against the motion and it failed, 3-2.

Curran later added that for the betterment of the school system, there needs to be representation….
