Northumberland tops Lancaster, 74-64, rivals to meet in district championship

Lancaster went 2-1 last week to finish regular season play in second place on the Northern Neck District ladder.

Northumberland beat Lancaster, 74-64, to start the week and the Red Devils picked up a five-point win over Westmoreland to finish 8-2 in the district.

Because of weather postponements the past two weeks, the district tournament schedule was changed with the top two teams meeting in the championship. First place Northumberland is scheduled to host second place Lancaster Thursday, February 20, weather permitting.

Lancaster wrapped up regular season play with a win over Arcadia at home on February 14.

Northumberland 74, Lancaster 64

Northumberland let Lancaster get as close as five late in the game but hit a couple at the line with under a minute remaining for a 10-point win, 74-64.
