NNO gala
The Northern Neck Orchestra (NNO) fundraiser, Bach to Beach, will offer chamber music by Johann Sebastian Bach and beach music by The Original Rhondels. The event will be held from 5-10:30 p.m. March 29 at the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck, 517 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.
Single tickets are $125. Tables of eight may be purchased for $1,000. Tickets must be purchased by March 7. Tickets are available at www.northernneckorchestra.org. All proceeds support the NNO.
Speaker series
The Second Saturday Speaker Series will continue at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Steamboat Era Museum, 156 King Carter Drive, Irvington. Keith Kehlbeck will present “Steamboats During the Civil War.”

Woman’s club
The Woman’s Club of Northumberland County will meet Tuesday, March 11, at the WCNC Clubhouse, 2928 Northumberland Highway, Lottsburg. Doors will open at noon; the meeting will begin at 12:30 p.m.
Discussion topics will include the annual fundraiser. Guests and new members welcome.
Quilt show
The King and Queen County Quilt Show will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. March 14 and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. March 15 at the King and Queen County Public Library, 396 Newtown Road, St. Stephens Church.
The show, held in conjunction with the VA250 program, is free and open to the public.
DAR to meet
The Cobbs Hall Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at the Bayne Center at Historic Christ Church & Museum, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems.
The speaker will be John Stevens Mason Jr., a direct descendant of George Mason. The event is open to the public and will conclude with a tea reception. Members will provide a buffet.
Rotary dates
The Northern Neck Rotary Club meets at 7:30 a.m. on second and fourth Wednesdays at River Counties Community Foundation, 834 Rappahannock Drive, White Stone. Those interested in the speaker topics or Rotary are welcome.
On March 12, Barbara Mait and Steve Mattheisen will speak on the upcoming American Junior Golf Association Tournament to at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club. On March 29, Doug Mock will speak on the RAL Art Center smART Program.
Brews & BBQ
The Stratford Hall Brews & BBQ Festival will be held from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. April 5 at Stratford Hall Historic Preserve, 483 Great House Road, Stratford. Enjoy barbecue, beverages, crafts, music and tours of the Great House and grounds.
Through April 3, tickets are $35 for ages 14 and older and on festival day, $45. Tickets are $10 for ages 6-13 and $5 for ages 5 and younger. Purchase tickets at stratfordhall.org.
