Sheriff’s Report 03-06-25

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against nine individuals.

Felonies

Lionel Lamont Baker, 49, of Kilmarnock was charged February 26 with three counts of revocation of suspension of sentence and probation on the underlying charges of manufacturing, selling, giving, distributing or possessing with the intent to manufacture, sell, give or distribute a controlled substance.

Markeese Broughton Jr., 19, of Lancaster was charged February 28 on conspiracy to knowingly take part or participate in the filming, photographing or other production of child pornography; knowingly possess child pornography; knowingly take part or participate in the filming, photographing or other production of child pornography; and misdemeanor contributing to delinquency of a minor. These were Tappahannock Police Department charges.

Joseph Cox Jr., 34, of Weems was charged March 2 with assault and battery of a family or household member, strangulation, and abduction.

Misdemeanors

A Heathsville man, 32, was charged February 24 with three counts of violating a provision of a child abuse protective order by an act or acts of commission or omission that endanger a child’s life or health or resulted in bodily injury to the child.

A Heathsville woman, 27, was charged February 24 with three counts of violating a provision of a child abuse protective order by an act or acts of commission or omission that endanger a child’s life or health or resulted in bodily injury to the child.

A Weems man, 37, was charged February 28 with driving while intoxicated with a BAC of at least 0.08 but no more than 0.13, driving while driver’s license is suspended, and expired state inspection.

A Topping woman, 38, was charged February 28 with failure to appear in court on February 26 on the underlying charge of shoplifting.

A Kilmarnock man, 25, was charged March 1 with trespassing, and destruction of property.

A Lancaster woman, 28, was charged March 2 with driving while intoxicated with a BAC of at least 0.14 but no more than 0.19.

Activity Report

February 24: Staff responded to Kamps Mill Road for an abandoned vehicle, to the 1000 block of Chestnut Grove Lane for a domestic disturbance, to the 1800 block of Ocran Road for suspicious activity, to Weems Road and Beechwood Drive for gunshots in the late evening hours.

February 25: Staff responded to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for gunshots in the early morning hours, and to the 18000 block of Mary Ball Road for debris in the highway.

February 26: Staff responded to the 1000 block of Irvington Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash, to the 6000 block of Mary Ball Road for identity fraud, and to the 500 block of Regina Road for a scam.

February 27: Staff responded to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for fraud, to the 200 block of Beach Road for a suspicious package, to the 500 block of Chesapeake Drive for an adult welfare check, and to the 300 block of Gaskins Road for a fight in progress.

February 28: Staff responded to Irvington and Weems roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash, to the 18000 block of Mary Ball Road for a reckless driver, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for fraud, to the 1300 block of Oak Hill Road for a larceny, and to the 100 block of Forest Hill Road for a juvenile complaint.

March 1: Staff responded to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for a reckless driver; to River and Paynes Shop roads for a disabled vehicle, to Morattico and River roads for a juvenile complaint, to the 6000 block of Morattico Road for a scam, to Benson and Johns Neck roads for a loud explosion, and to the 200 block of Edgewater Farm Drive for a scam.

March 2: Staff responded to the 13000 block of Devils Bottom Road for debris in the highway, to the 13000 block of River Road for a verbal dispute, and to the 100 block of Lonesome Pine Trail for a domestic disturbance.

Staff also conducted 61 traffic stops, issued 40 summonses, assisted two motorists, recorded three deer strike accidents, handled a request for traffic control, investigated six building alarms, logged an inmate transport, received six E911 hangup calls, and fielded three calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster and Kilmarnock volunteer fire departments responded to a brush/field fire at 10950 River Road and to an outbuilding structure fire at 23 Morattico Road.

Kilmarnock VFD also responded with Lancaster County Emergency Services to a traffic crash at 1090 Irvington Road.

White Stone VFD responded to a brush/field fire at 881 Chesapeake Drive.
