Sheriff’s Report 03-13-25

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against nine individuals.

Felony

Mindy Howard, 39, of 629 Drinking Swamp Road, Farnham, was charged March 5 with revocation of suspension of sentence and probation on the underlying charge of possession of controlled substance and a misdemeanor obtaining money or signature by false pretense.

Misdemeanors

A Tappahannock woman, 21, was charged March 3 with assault and battery of a family or household member and destruction of property; and March 4 with violating a provision of a family abuse emergency protective order.

A Lancaster man, 24, was charged March 3 with assault and battery of a family or household member.

A Weems man, 57, was charged March 4 with driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated; refusal to submit breath or blood for chemical test; consuming an alcoholic beverage while driving a motor vehicle upon a public highway; operating a motor vehicle with an expired state inspection; operating a motor vehicle with an expired registration, and committing reckless driving by driving a motor vehicle on the highway at a speed of 20 miles per hour or more in excess of the maximum speed limit.

A Lancaster man, 20, was charged March 7 with assault and battery of a family or household member.

A Weems man, 41, was charged March 9 with driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated; consuming an alcoholic beverage while driving a motor vehicle upon a public highway; committing reckless driving by driving a motor vehicle on the highway at a speed of 20 miles per hour or more in excess of the applicable speed limit, and driving while driver’s license is suspended or revoked.

A Lancaster man, 72, was charged March 9 with entering property of another for the purpose of damaging it or the contents thereof, or for the purpose of interfering with the rights of the owner, user or occupant thereof to use such property free from interference.

Activity Report

March 3: Staff responded to the 3000 block of White Chapel Road for a suspicious vehicle, to the 3000 block of White Chapel Road for a child custody dispute, to the 3000 block of White Chapel Road for destruction of property, to the 100 block of Old Town Lane for a breaking and entering, to the 400 block of Greentown Road for an adult welfare check, to the 10 block of Goodluck Road for a disabled vehicle, and to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the highway.

March 4: Staff responded to the 20 block of Trappers Lane for a juvenile complaint, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for harassment, to the 3000 block of Lara Road for an adult welfare check, and to the 9000 block of Mary Ball Road for trespassing.

March 5: Staff responded to the 100 block of Cottage Lane for fraud, to the 800 block of Nuttsville Road for a fight in progress, to the 600 block of Mosquito Beach Road for a downed tree, to Beach Road and Pine Drive for gunshots in the late evening hours, and to the 3000 block of Mary Ball Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

March 6: Staff responded to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for legal advice, and to Mary Ball and Harris roads for a disabled vehicle.

March 7: Staff responded to the 500 block of Corrotoman Drive for an adult welfare check, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for an assault, to the 1400 block of Lumberlost Road for a suspicious vehicle, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for a fight in progress, to Western Branch and River roads for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

March 8: Staff responded to the 300 block of Twin Branch Road for a verbal dispute, and to Mary Ball and Goodluck roads for a reckless driver.

March 9: Staff responded to the 700 block of Monaskon Road for trespassing, to the 4000 block of Mary Ball Road for legal advice, to the 9000 block of Mary Ball Road for a property dispute, and to the 1000 block of River Road for trespassing.

Staff also conducted 49 traffic stops, issued 47 summonses, assisted three motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, handled a request for traffic control, investigated seven building alarms, logged an inmate transport, received three E911 hangup calls, and fielded two calls for animal control service.

Fire calls

Upper Lancaster and Kilmarnock volunteer fire departments responded to a brush fire at 61 Club Drive.

Kilmarnock VFD also responded to a vehicle fire at 200 Old Fair Grounds Way and a propane leak at 262 Waterbury Road.

Upper Lancaster VFD also responded to a vehicle crash at Western Branch and River roads.
