HEATHSVILLE—In a presentation to Northumberland supervisors on Thursday, April 10, the county’s annual audit showed findings in both the county and school system books according to Taylor Stover of Robinson, Farmer, Cox Associates.
In addition to a financial statement and compliance audit for the Virginia Retirement Services (VRS), three federal programs were audited—child nutrition, American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds.
When it came to financial statements overall, internal controls and compliance with federal programs, the auditors expressed an unmodified opinion, “which is the highest opinion you can receive,” Stover said.
