Breakfast deal
Lancaster Union Lodge #88, 48 North Main Street, Kilmarnock, serves a country breakfast buffet from 7-10 a.m. on second Saturdays. The fee through July is $12, ages 6 and younger, eat free. However, beginning in August the fee will increase to $14 for those older than 6. For a limited time, patrons may purchase tickets at the current price to use for future breakfasts.
The all-you-can-eat menu includes scrambled eggs (fried eggs on request), pancakes (blueberry and plain), biscuits, sausage gravy, sausage links, bacon, cheesy grits, home fried potatoes, fried apples, warm syrup, fruit cocktail, coffee, tea, juice and milk. Orders to go also.
Cannery talk
Northumberland Preservation Inc. (NPI) will present a talk by Paul Welch about his family’s three-generation history of operating canneries in the Northern Neck. The presentation will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at the historic Shiloh School on Shiloh School Road, Kilmarnock.
Win a quilt
The American Legion Adams Post 86 Ladies Auxiliary is conducting a raffle of a hand-embroidered king/queen size quilt. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.
Tickets may be purchased from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 5, 6, 26 and 27 in front of Tri-Star Supermarket, 81 Irvington Road, Kilmarnock, or from any auxiliary member. A drawing will be held on September 16.
History talk
The Mathews Museum, the Mathews Historical Society and the Mathews VA250 Committee will welcome speaker Philip Page at 7 p.m. June 6 at the Mathews Museum, 200 Main Street, Mathews.
Page, a descendant of the Mann Page family of Rosewell, will present “The Pages of Rosewell.” There is no cost for this presentation and reservations are not required.
Afternoon tea
The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society (LVHS) will host a special “Afternoon at Verville” at 3 p.m. June 7 at the home of Ammon G. Dunton, Jr. near Merry Point.
Tickets are $70 for LVHS members and $100 for others. Tickets must be purchased in advance. To secure a reservation, call 462-7280.
Virginia Resolved
Stratford Hall, 483 Great House Road, Stratford, recently announced plans for Virginia Resolved: A Commemoration of Independence, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 7.
Tickets are $15 for ages 14 and older, $10 for ages 6-13, and free for ages 5 and younger, as well as Friends of Stratford members, Blue Star Museum participants and Museums for All patrons. Purchase tickets at stratfordhall.org.
History discussion
The Historic Christchurch & Museum Spring Speaker Series will conclude June 12. Historian Jon Kukla will present “Patrick Henry: The Civic Faith of an Enlightened Patriot.”
The event will be held in the Bayne Center on the grounds of Historic Christ Church, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems. Admission is by season subscription or $35, which include a wine and cheese reception. For tickets go to ChristChurch1735.org.
Vacation raffle
The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck (BGCNN) will give away two vacations through the purchase of raffle tickets. Winning participants may choose a trip to Hilton Head, S.C., or a South Africa safari vacation. Raffle tickets are $10 each. Proceeds will support youth programming at the BGCNN Lancaster County Unit.

Parade time
The Town of Irvington will hold its annual 4th of July Hometown Parade at 11 a.m. July 4 along King Carter Drive, Irvington.

The Northern Neck Rotary Club meets at 7:30 a.m. on second and fourth Wednesdays at River Counties Community Foundation, 834 Rappahannock Drive, White Stone. Those interested in the speaker topics or Rotary are welcome.
Juneteenth
The Northern Neck Hidden History Trail will hold a Juneteenth Celebration from noon-5 p.m. June 14, at Ma Margaret’s House B&B, 249 Greenfield Road, Reedville.
The speaker will be Dr. Cassandra Newby-Alexander. Country singer Roberta Lea will bring soulful sounds with a country twist. There also will be line dancing, food, games and vendors.
Wedding gowns
The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, 504 Main Street, Reedville, requests your presence at “With This Ring” – a display of vintage wedding gowns and accessories on view in the Walker House May 29-June 29.
Museum hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 1-4 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and veterans and free for ages 16 and younger as well as active military members.
