
The String Orchestra for Northern Neck Youth (SONNY) recently selected its four most senior students to form a string quartet over the summer.
Christine Hartigan will coach the quartet with 10 two-hour sessions from early June to mid-August. The students will then be independent, able to perform without a conductor. They will play for elementary school students in the region’s libraries over the coming school year. Each event will be followed by a “petting zoo” of string instruments.
