WHITE STONE—Residents of White Stone will now be able to bring their concerns to council during a quarterly public comment period.
Council began a discussion a few months ago regarding the inclusion of a public comment period. Apparently a time for public comments has never been on the agenda, according to town manager Patrick Frere, who said, “I went back to look and never found where there was one.”
On Thursday, July 3, Frere and Mayor William Hubbard recommended council consider adding a public comment period to the agenda quarterly, noting residents can always “go through” a council member to add a concern to the agenda for discussion at any time. The two also recommended a time limit of two minutes.
AnnGardner Eubank said, “With it being quarterly, I’m not sure two would suffice. If it was monthly maybe that would be enough time.”
Eubank moved to add a quarterly public input session to the agenda for August, November, February and May with a three-minute time….
