Sheriff’s Report 07-17-25

Lancaster County Sheriff Patrick McCranie this week reported charges against seven individuals.

Felonies

Lamar Delonta Mattocks Jr., 19, of Lancaster was charged July 8 with use of firearm in commission of felony, malicious wounding; and misdemeanors, pointing/brandishing a firearm, concealing firearm hidden from common observation, and willfully discharging firearm in public.

Xzaveah Samuel Thompson, 22, of Lancaster was charged July 9 with use of firearm in commission of felony, malicious wounding; and misdemeanors, pointing/brandishing a firearm, concealing firearm hidden from common observation, and willfully discharging firearm in public.

Misdemeanors

A Lancaster man, 42, was charged July 8 with obstructing justice.

A Saluda man, 27, was charged July 10 with driving while license suspended or revoked, following too close and failure to wear a seat belt when vehicle was in motion on a public highway.

A White Stone man, 54, was charged July 10 with disorderly conduct.

A White Stone man, 23, was charged July 11 with two counts of pointing/brandishing a firearm and assault and battery of a family or household member.

A White Stone man, 61, was charged July 13 with driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated; driving a motor vehicle on a highway recklessly or at a speed or in a manner so as to endanger the life, limb or property of a person; consuming an alcoholic beverage while driving a motor vehicle upon a highway; driving the wrong way on a highway or roadway that the commissioner of highways has designated for one-way traffic; and expired state registration.

Activity report

July 7: Staff responded to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for a scam, to the Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge for debris in the highway, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for threats, and to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for an intoxicated person.

July 8: Staff responded to the 20 block of Spring Hill Road for a downed tree, to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for debris in the highway, to the 100 block of America Drive for a scam, to the 70 block of Pinckardsville Road for a two-vehicle traffic crash and to the 900 block of Peirces Road for trespassing.

July 9: Staff responded to the 90 block of Punches Cove Road for a verbal dispute.

July 10: Staff responded to the 8000 block of Mary Ball Road for trespassing, to the 800 block of Rappahannock Drive for an abandoned vehicle, to the 20 block of Beanes Road for a larceny, and to the 80 block of School Street for a verbal dispute.

July 11: Staff responded to the 9000 block of Mary Ball Road for a reckless driver, to the 80 block of Hickory Road for an adult welfare check, to the 300 block of Akins Road for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and to the 100 block of Sullavans Road for trespassing.

July 12: Staff responded to the 700 block of Chowning Ferry Road for an adult welfare check, to the 40 block of Rocky Neck Road for a verbal dispute, and to the 1600 block of Taylors Creek Road for adult welfare check.

July 13: Staff responded to the 100 block of First Street for a juvenile complaint, and to the Norris Bridge for a multiple vehicle traffic crash.

Staff also conducted four traffic stops, issued two summonses, assisted three motorists, recorded a deer strike accident, handled two requests for traffic control, investigated a building alarm, logged three inmate transports, received two E911 hang up calls, and fielded a call for animal control service.

Fire calls

Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department responded to 76 Pinckardsville Road for a traffic crash, Cloverdale Road for a brush fire, and with Upper Lancaster VFD to 176 Pinckardsville Road for a residential lightning strike.

Upper Lancaster VFD also responded to 102 Wild Flower Lane for an electric bicycle fire, and to 1434 Hoecake Road for a fire alarm.

White Stone VFD responded to 895 Rappahannock Drive for a vehicle fire, and to the Norris Bridge for a traffic crash.

Reminder, those charged with alleged crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
