CATONSVILLE, MD—Betty Walker, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

She was born at South Baltimore General Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, on May 27, 1937, to Gertrude Neilson Koehler and George William Koehler.

Betty was a graduate of Eastern High School in Baltimore. She then earned her bachelor’s in biological science at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. While at Gettysburg, she met fellow classmate Samuel Walker, who would eventually become her husband of 66 years.

Betty spent many years at home raising her four children. She also helped launch The Country Mouse Craft Store, in its very early days, with two other partners in North Smithfield, Rhode Island.

Betty also took a very big leap as a mom with kids still at home and went back to school. She earned a second bachelor’s in nursing at Rhode Island College. She held various jobs in the field of nursing including Fogarty Hospital emergency room in North Smithfield and multiple school nursing positions with Baltimore County Public Schools.

Betty spent her retirement years at her favorite place with her beloved Sam, right on the water of the beautiful Northern Neck. They remained there until it was no longer possible and they passed away only eight weeks apart.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Christine Walker Ogden and her husband, Keith Ogden; son, Samuel Walker VII and his wife, Shawn Walker; son, Patrick Walker; daughter, Holly Walker Inglisa and her husband, John Inglisa. Betty is also survived by her nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: granddaughter, Alexandra Ogden Lampa and her husband, Grahamn Lampa; grandson, Samuel Ogden; grandson, Malcolm Ogden; granddaughter, Sydney Walker O’Malley and her husband, Michael O’Malley; grandson, Samuel (McCain) Walker VIII and his wife, Alisa Byrd Walker; granddaughter, Kelleen Walker Latiolais and her husband, Noah Latiolais; granddaughter, KB Walker; grandson, Nicholas Inglisa; granddaughter, Marissa Inglisa; grandson, Joseph Inglisa; great-granddaughter, Hope Lampa; great-grandson, Matthew O’Malley; great-grandson, Galen Lampa; and great-granddaughter, Francis O’Malley.

A memorial service was held in honor of Samuel and Betty Walker on June 13, 2025, their 66th Wedding Anniversary at St. James Episcopal Church, 3100 Monkton Road, Monkton, Maryland.
