WALLOPS ISLAND—Three sounding rockets launched in succession from Wallops Island recently.
The rockets launched for the Turbulent Oxygen Mixing Experiment Plus (TOMEX+) mission, whose goal was to study a super-cold layer of the atmosphere about 56 miles above Earth where meteors burn up and create sodium atoms that are normally invisible, reported the NASA Wallops Flight Facility.
