The Bluff Point Community League will hold a creative Oyster Shell Decorating class from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. September 27 at Bluff Point Graded School #3, 2595 Bluff Point Road, Kilmarnock.

Shoreline planting
The Northern Neck Master Gardeners Shoreline Evaluation Program will present “Planting for Success: Best Choices for Shoreline Protection” from 2-3:30 p.m. October 3 at the Bayne Center, Historic Christ Church, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems.
The program is free, but advance registration is required. To register, call the Virginia Cooperative Extension office in Lancaster, 462-5780.
Boots and Barbecue
Boots and Barbecue, to benefit the Northern Neck Land Conservancy, will be held from 1-4 p.m. October 4 at Wheatland on the Rappahannock River in Essex County. Tickets are $50. Purchase tickets at nnconserve.org, or call 250-2334.
The event will include fried oysters, barbecue, cool beverages, music and presentations by the Patawomeck Tribe, the Northern Neck Beekeepers and the Steamboat Era Museum.
History trip
Lancaster Virginia Historical Society will sponsor a tour October 20 to the Virginia Museum of History & Culture and Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond. Carpooling from Lancaster is encouraged.
The fee is $100 for members and $115 for others, and includes museum admission, a narrated trolly tour of the cemetery, lunch and gratuities. Registration by September 26 at 462-7280 or history@lancastervahistory.org.
RCA concerts
Rappahannock Concert Association (RCA) season tickets are on sale. Five shows are planned at the Performing Arts Theater, Northumberland County School Complex, 201 Academic Lane, Heathsville.
A season subscription for all five shows is $135 reserved seating, or $110 general admission. Other options include a pick three of five RCA concerts, $70; or individual show tickets, $35 each. Purchase tickets at rappahannockconcerts.org, or 1-888-210-8006.

Tickets are on sale for the Northern Neck Orchestra’s 2025-26 season. Five concerts are scheduled at the Lancaster Elementary School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock.
