Birthplace to host night sky program

In celebration of National Public Lands Day, George Washington Birthplace National Monument, 1732 Popes Creek Road, Colonial Beach, invites visitors to experience the wonder of the cosmos during a special evening program, “The Star-Spangled Night Sky,” beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, September 27.

This free, 90-minute event will explore how the stars have shaped the American story—from the symbolism of stars on the U.S. flag to America’s journey into space. Park rangers also will help visitors identify constellations and locate the Andromeda Galaxy, as well as use a telescope to….
