Each year, Lions Club International sponsors a world-wide art contest for middle-school age children to create individual posters promoting peace.
This year, the Peace Poster theme is “Together as One.” Students worldwide are invited to envision what can occur when individuals from diverse backgrounds unite toward a shared objective, encouraging participants to “Imagine a world where we all come together as one. What does it mean to you?”
The Lancaster County Lions Club has established a venue outside of the public school in an effort to engage all interested children in the county, whether public, private or home schooled, ages 11-13, said coordinator and artist Lion Eileen Tullner.
Peace Poster Day will take place from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. October 4 at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock.
Librarian Tonya Carter will host the event and provide necessary space and resources. Lancaster Middle School art teacher Marilyn Sprouse will facilitate guided discussions and brainstorming…..
